Chip and Dell are our Korat kittens. After months of careful research (of course), we chose the Korat breed because of reports of their intelligence, loving nature, and compatibility with families. Jay was particularly impressed by their low-shedding characteristic. Lacking the second coat of hair that sheds in most cats, the Korats keep warm by keeping their hair on their bodies, where it belongs. Of course, when additional heat is needed, the Korat is more than happy to sit its behind on a heater vent or to climb up inside a sweater -- preferably one with a person inside!
Our Korats were born on January 4, 1997. Luckily, we found a breeder in Georgia, so the Davids parents brought the kittens to us at Pesah. Thus, their middle names are Stanley and Resa. They spent their first week under our bed (the cats, not the parents), quivering in fear. Since then, they have taken control of our house and our lives. They are loving and adorable. They love us and stuffed animals, not necessarily in the same order. Chip particularly loves his dad, and Dell favors her mom. When Jay travels, Chip is inconsolable. (Last night, Jay went to London and Chip whined and wandered around the house until 1:00 am. Then he played with Abu, pictured below, for an hour. Once he got a few hours' sleep, he went back to wandering the house, looking for his daddy.)
The following are some of our favorite pictures of the kittens.
