INTRODUCING JOSHUA DAVID DWECK
Janury 19 , 2001
In the midst of all the snow in our backyard,
we at Silicon Woods are overjoyed to welcome Joshua David Dweck to our family. Following in the footsteps of his sister, Joshua gave us a little trouble before he got here. He was so excited, he kept threatening to join us early, but his mom held on until 38 weeks.
Since she was on bedrest, we wanted to prove that she really was pregnant. . . . . . . . .. . . . . . .
In the end, he actually arrived on the scheduled day of his C-section. At 8:15 am on a Friday morning, he joined us with a hearty cry.
At 6 lbs, 14 1/2 ozs. and 20 inches, he seemed huge to us, and it didn't take long for us to be convinced that this one was going to come right home with his mom, if he didn't walk home by himself first.
Jay behaved himself a little better during the surgery this time, except that as soon as Joshua was born Jay abandoned Shoshana to visit with his new son. Happily, he brought Joshua over to see Shoshana soon thereafter.
On Sunday, everyone was doing well enough that Olivia could come by for a visit. She applauded her mom (and dad) for a job well done.
By Monday, Shoshana had enough of being in bed, and convinced the doctors that it was time for everyone to go home. Joshua got all bundled up against the cold, and his daddy came to pick him up. The blanket is the same one that warmed Olivia on the way home from the hospital almost 15 months before, and that Shoshana came home from the hospital wrapped in almost 34 years ago.

Little Rocky Balboa is now happily at home, although he was not so sure about that after his first bath. For those of you wondering, his hair is even curlier than Olivia's was at this stage. We are predicting something close to Jay's curls. However curly it ends up, we are certain that Jay's curl genes have trumped Shoshana's straight hair genes 2 out of 2 times so far. As far as the rest of Joshua, he has his Saba's (maternal grandfather) chin with a little cleft, Olivia's full cheeks, and just the hint of a dimple or two near his mouth. Olivia looked completely like her dad from the minute she was born. Joshua is a little harder to peg -- he is just himself.
Once again, before we conclude, we want to express our gratitude to the doctors at Cornell, Northern Westchester, Greenwich and Stamford hospitals and the Women's Medical Associates for all that they did to help bring Joshua into this world healthy, strong and oh-so-big. We are in their debt forever.
