HANUKAH AND
FIRST BIRTHDAYS
Olivia and Zeke live on opposite coasts of the United States, so they don't get much of a chance to be together. However, we never forget that they are very close in age (only 10 weeks apart). As they get older, they are getting closer together in their experiences. We do note, for the record, that this was Olivia's SECOND Hanukah while it was Zeke's FIRST.
OLIVIA's BIRTHDAY
Olivia's birthday was on October 28, 2000. To accommodate the various schedules, her party was on November 1, 2000. In attendance were her beloved grandparents on both sides, her Aunt Brenda, her Uncle Mikey, and various cousins. Also on hand were Olivia's nanny Martha, Martha's husband Oscar, our housekeeper Daniel and Olivia's babysitter Monika. It was quite a crew. After a Rainbow Fish themed party, Olivia had a birthday cookie (too allergic to cakes!) while the party-goers enjoyed apple crisp with an oatmeal crust (apples and oatmeals are two of the few foods Olivia can eat). Olivia revelled in opening her presents and then we retired to the theater where we viewed a video of "A Day in the Life of Olivia -- Age One Year."
Notice Olivia pretending to share her cookie (if you try to accept her gift, don't blame us if a bit of a temper tantrum ensues). Ever the diplomat, she is wearing her pretty pink hat from Grandma Sydelle while hanging on to Blue Bear from Saba.

ZEKE's BIRTHDAY
Zeke celebrated in typical boy style, with a party on January 1, 2001 in honor of Zeke and the Rose Bowl. At halftime, they had cake. Zeke's was a Tigger cake and the rest of the guests indulged in football cakes, all decorated by Aviva, Zeke's mom (and Shoshana's sister). Once again, Saba and Savta were in attendance (they sure do get around between their grandchildren) and this time the West Coast uncles and aunts and first cousins made an appearance. The cake was his alone, but he let his mom help open the presents.
